Editor’s Notebook: PB Monthly enters its third year covering the community

During the July 17 PB Town Council Meeting at Crown Point Jr. Music Academy, Council member Karl Jaedtke (left) announces that Mission Bay High School senior Xiu Mei Golden is the winner of this year’s Dan Froelich Youth Award for outstanding community service. Town Council president Brian White presents a $1,000 check to Golden, who gives an impromptu acceptance speech.

EDITOR’S NOTEBOOK:

With this issue, PB Monthly magazine embarks on year No. 3 of providing hometown news and information to the residents of Pacific Beach and Mission Beach. We offer our heartfelt gratitude to the community for embracing our efforts and helping us make each issue interesting and valuable to our readers.

Reflecting on the stories we’ve helped tell this year, common threads made them all newsworthy — pride and passion. Residents truly appreciate the laid-back charms of their beach communities and as a result, they are fully engaged in keeping them safe and idyllic. Though the last Town Council meeting was focused on the problems related to electric scooters around town (see related story, “PB reviews the scope of scooter scat at Pacific Beach Town Council meeting”), the gathering kicked off with the two joyful moments pictured (one above, one below). Both exemplify the pride and passion we enjoy covering for you.
